Face Washing Routine for Dry or Sensitive Skin

Face Washing Routine for Dry or Sensitive Skin

Knowing when to wash your face, how often, and what to use can be a minefield if you have dry or sensitive skin. Try this routine to help protect your skin and keep it glowing for the long term.

Cleanse twice at night and rinse with warm water in the morning

To keep your face clean, we recommend washing your face three times a day – once in the morning and twice at night. That’s especially important if you wear makeup. You don't need to use a cleanser in the morning, just wash with lukewarm water.

Use lukewarm water

You may have heard washing your face in the shower is a bad idea. That's true! The skin on your face is more sensitive and needs extra TLC. Hot shower water can lead to further sensitivity, so it’s best to use lukewarm water. That way you’ll protect your skin’s natural oils.

Wash gently

While it might be tempting to reach for a face cloth, it’s gentler to use your hands. Wash in gentle circular motions and don’t rub or exfoliate. Pat your face dry with a clean face towel or you can just let your face dry naturally.

Keep bacteria to a minimum

To keep things clean, wash your pillow twice per week. Did you know that your pillowcase could have more bacteria than your toilet seat? Pretty gross!

It’s also essential to use clean towels. Washing them regularly will keep those nasties to a minimum.  Your hands also spread bacteria so keep your hands clean and try to avoid touching your face during the day.

Avoid ingredients that keep you in a sensitivity spiral

Using skincare that’s formulated without irritating ingredients is essential. Otherwise, you can get stuck in a sensitivity spiral and miss out on reducing your skin's sensitivity over time.

We don't do fragrance, fuss or BS. We create the skincare you deserve - honest and impowering formulations that just work, and are made for a better version of your skin.
