Postbiotic Skincare, Made in Australia

Postbiotics are what beneficial bacteria leave behind when they ferment an ingredient — peptides, organic acids, enzymes and cell fragments your skin can use straight away. Unlike probiotics, they do not need to be alive to work, which is why postbiotic skincare is shelf-stable and does not need refrigerating.

Postbiotics, probiotics and prebiotics: the difference

Prebiotics are food for the good bacteria already living on your skin. Probiotics are the beneficial bacteria themselves. Postbiotics are the by-products those bacteria produce. It is the third group that does most of the visible work in a topical formula, because postbiotics are stable, absorbable and do not depend on surviving a supply chain to be useful.

Where the postbiotics are in our formulas

You can find them on the ingredient list of every SKINPOSSIBLE product. We ferment natural raw materials with Lactobacillus before formulating:

• Lactobacillus/Glycyrrhiza Glabra Root (Licorice) ferment — an antioxidant that helps calm visible redness
• Lactobacillus/Carica Papaya fruit ferment — signals the skin to produce its own ceramides and defensins
• Lactobacillus/Ananas sativa fruit (Pineapple) ferment — gentle enzymatic exfoliation with antioxidants and prebiotics
• Lactobacillus/Aloe Barbadensis leaf juice ferment — hydrating and soothing

What to expect

Postbiotics work by supporting the barrier rather than forcing a result, so the changes are steadier than an active-led routine. In our trial of 50 participants aged 25 to 55 over three to six weeks: 94% saw less visible redness with the High Achiever Super Serum, 96% saw less dryness and softer skin with the Let’s Start Over Barrier Repair Soufflé, and 100% had no irritation from the Get Fresh Calming Cleanser.
